Signs, Graphics, and Wraps in Florence, SC: How Local Businesses Get Noticed
August 20, 2024Can You Tint Your Windshield in South Carolina? Rules, Options, and What Actually Helps
November 12, 2024Most of the commercial film calls we get start the same way. A business owner mentions that their cooling bill has been high all summer, or that inventory near the windows keeps fading faster than inventory in the back. The windows are not the first thing anyone thinks of, but they usually account for a significant share of both problems.
What commercial film does
Commercial film goes on the interior surface of your existing glass. It does not replace anything. What it does is block a portion of solar energy from passing through the window, which reduces the heat load inside the building. On a south or west-facing wall in Florence during July, that can translate to a measurable drop in cooling costs because the HVAC is not fighting as much incoming heat through the glass.
UV protection for inventory and interiors
UV radiation fades things slowly and consistently. Retail merchandise, hardwood floors, furniture, upholstery, and displayed products all lose color from prolonged UV exposure. Commercial film blocks close to 99 percent of UV, which slows that process significantly. If you have products sitting in a sunlit window display or a showroom floor that represents real money, film is a straightforward way to protect it.
Privacy and security film options
Privacy film is a separate product from solar film. One-way reflective film lets your staff see out clearly while people on the street see a mirror instead of your interior. It is common in medical offices, law firms, and ground-floor retail where the business does not want full street-facing visibility. Frosted film scatters light in both directions, which is common in conference rooms or bathrooms where neither direction needs to see through the glass.
Security film is thicker than solar or privacy film and designed to hold glass together on impact instead of letting it shatter. It does not stop a determined break-in, but it significantly slows a smash-and-grab attempt and cuts the risk of injury from flying glass near a storefront.
What to expect from the process
Commercial installations start with a site visit to measure the glass and assess which film works with your existing window type. Most jobs we can schedule early morning or after business hours to avoid disrupting operations. Many commercial installations complete within a day. We can come out and look at your space with no commitment attached.
